There are so many blogs writing about the MK802 Android Mini PC around the world. So thought should pen down some basic questions about MK802 or any Android Mini PC which readers might have.

What is an MK802?
MK802 is a Flash Drive size ARM base Computer. It comes with Android 4.0 (ICS) preinstalled on it.

What is the content of the package?
The complete package contains almost everything you need to start using MK802, except keyboard, mouse and monitor.

How would you use the MK802?



Using the MK802 is simple. Just plug it to a HDMI port, connect a USB mouse and finally plug in the 5v power adaptor and you are good to go!
The device can act as a PC, Media Center or even a Gaming Console.

Can I use a PC Keyboard and Mouse on MK802?
Yes you can. Any PC USB keyboard mouse, both wired and wireless works on MK802. The MK802 comes with HID (Human Interface Device) out of the Box. However when using wired keyboard and mouse, you will need to connect both device via USB Hub. Wireless keyboard mouse that utilised intergrated controllers can be use via sigle usb port.
Bluetooth keyboard / mouse is not supported.
Can I use a Joystick or Gamepad with MK802?
Natively, android include USB input suport on ICS. Out of the box Gamepad / Joystick will work as a keyboard cursor. Not like a mouse.
Some games or emulator will provide support for game pad / joystick. Please consult with the apps developer before purchasing.

Is internet needed to use MK802?
Internet connectivity is highly recommended for MK802. However there is still many ways you can utilise MK802 without internet.
What feature does not work without internet.
Most of the apps preinstalled in the MK802 needs internet.
Google Play (Market) does not work. You can download apps without internet. However you can still transfer APK (android exe file) via USB Flash or MicroSD.
Media streaming does not work. But you can still play video stored locally or on USB FLash or Mikro SD.
Time does not sync.
How does the MK802 access the internet?
The easier way to connect the MK802 to the internet is via the onboard wireless. It support wireless B,G,N 2.4Ghz, WEP or WPA encryption and Hotspot Login.
You can also use USB Broadband if you want. Android ICS comes with this support built in. However we are not able to provide support on this as there are a lot different USB Broadband and Broadband providers that may require different settings to make it work.
How would you power on the MK802?
1. Use the included 5V dc adaptor.
2. Use the included USB Cable and connect to USB port of TV.
From our experience, it is better to use the included 5V dc adaptor as it will provide enough power to power on USB Hub and Most USB Hard Drive.
However if your USB Hard Drive does not work, that mean you will need to use a Powered USB Hub.
How would you power off the MK802
The is no shutdown button for MK802. Even the power off menu on the Android does not work.
All you need to do to power off the MK802 is just to unplug to power source (5V adaptor / USB)
There is no need to worry about file system corruption as.
1. MK802 utilised a NAND base storage, there are no moving part. So there will be no head collision issue like normal hard disk.
2. NAND base storage is faster, so no buffer is needed. Every bit is written to storage instantaneously.
3. If any application is corupted during shutdown. Android will redownload automatically whenever internet access is available.
How would you compare the MK802 performance?
The MK802 come with 1GHz Allwinner A10 (an ARM A8 Spec CPU), 1 GB RAM, MALI400 GPU and 4GB memory.
We would compare the MK802+ with middle range sigle process tablet. The CPU is fast enough to cope with most games and video. There will be some noticable lag on 3D Gaming.
We at QMT is always working with varios developer both manufacturer and comunity to provide tweak and custome firmware. Performance optimisation will be provided via firmware or kernel update.

Why is some website is slow loading on the Browser?
Some of the website are loaded with flash banner/video. It is a known problem that Adobe Flash Player is still having performance issue on Android/ARM devices.
For the video streaming website specifically;
1. Some of the website is offering their own Android App. Recommend to watch the video via the App for the optimum experience.
2. Some of the website is offering HTML5 videos. Recommended to swith to HTML5 video for better performance.
3. Please avoid to open multiple windows of video webpage.
Will MK802 work with a DVI monitor via convertor?
Currently there is no known way to use any adapter which will work with DVI.
The MK802 has an HDMI port (for both video and audio) and comes with a Type A to mini Type C HDMI cable.
Will MK802 work with an old monitor?
We will assume that you mean a VGA monitor. We would recommend that MK802 is used with a LCD/LED TV, as both audio is send digitally via HDMI.

While there are reports that HDMI to VGA+Stero convertor works. But you may face image croping / cliping due to difference of display resolution.

Will MK802 work with 2.5" Mini Hard Drive/USB Hub/Pendrive?
Yes. MK802 is compatible with any USB storage devices. You may connect it via OTG USB Port.
MK802 required to be powered up by the supplied Power Adapter to ensure optimum power for the external devices.

Will i need a high quality HDMI cable?
We recommend using the included HDMI Cable for maximum compatability.
Do note, some HDTV models required higher grade HDMI Cable (1.4a). Suggested to test your unit with other HDTV (friends/shops) first.
How to root the MK802?
The Android OS already comes pre-rooted, no additional works required.
Why is some applications are not showing up on Google Play?
Generally any applications that works with arm will work with MK802. Some developer has not include our device into their compatibility list.
Generally, MK802 uses Allwinner A10 which is a ARM A8 compatible processor. Android apps support ARM since V6. With mean most application will work with MK802.
If the application is said to be incompatible on Google Play. You can download it from the developer website or you could search for universal .apk binary from the Internet.
Why is some applications auto rotate the screen to portrait (vertical) view?
Not all the applications are design for landscape/tablet view. Some of the applications are design for Android phone only and that's the reason why it will be view in portrait mode.
For optimum experience, please install application with HD/tablet version.
